I got a PS4 slim and an IPS monitor with HDMI input. The monitor does not accept any speakers nor audio out. Whatsoever ideas how to get sound for my PS4 slim? PS4 slim does not accept an optical out.

Accept a similar trouble, my TV has no headphone jack so can't attach external speakers. The Idiot box speakers suck and I don't desire to purchase speakers that take optic.

Heh, same thing I do and was going to suggest that. I do this with all current gen systems. Xbox One and PS4 I use the controller, and the Switch has a headphone jack built in. I and so utilise a little iii.5mm jack extender to reach my controllers easily to my computer speakers.

You tin can as well employ the USB. The audio quality of the controller isn't very good.

Use the headphone jack in the controller

That'southward an OK solution, merely having a wire dangling from a wireless controller tin become annoying at times. Plus the audio quality is not the best. What I ended up doing was getting an external USB sound card, this one specifically: https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Virtual-Surround-HX-USCCPSS-BK/dp/B077VLKW3P

Works similar a charm on a PS4. Yous can plug in whatever sound device you want, it has a 3.5mm jack.

Slim is a cost-cutting measure. If you want Optical you need an OG PS4 or a Pro.

Really wish Playstation 4 had the option for Bluetooth speakers, that would have saved then much wiring troubles.

I likewise game on a IPS monitor but I mine has build in crappy speakers and a audio out jack, I used to plug in my speakers in to my controller but that kinda restricted movement and it looked messy. I then settled to accept a cablevision from my monitor's audio out to my speakers AUX in and accept my PS4 audio get through HDMI to my monitor, this way I can have both PS4 audio and accept my estimator audio through the speakers at one time and I can also have my Switch audio like this.

Seems like it. I'm using a SPL USB Audio Interface that clearly isn't made for the PS4 and it works perfect.

I accept an OG. Only foreign they'd cutting features. MS added features with the Xbox One S.

As mentioned above, Sony likely have data that shows the optical port isn't used much. I wouldn't be surprised if PS5 never has an optical port.

It's not strange they cut features while their main competitor adds them?

Slim wasn't fabricated for people who would apply Optical Port, Sony information shows nobody cares so they cut it.

Headphone jack in controller is an selection but sometimes you go noise and the audio drops out. Also I've establish with some games it's similar there's a bandwidth trouble doing certain actions in games where it will consistently cut out (ie, doing a particular attack in Devil May Cry against certain enemies)

If you wanna go basics, get a Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K for your PC, plug PS4 into that, then use Durante's PtBi to play PS4 on your desktop. It's what I practise, and gives the reward of adding additonal AA to console games. Only problem is sometimes there's an audio bandwidth fault that makes audio crackle.

Also if the monitor isn't 1080p/4k, you'll get scaling problems.

Optical is pretty much dead. $100 says side by side gen consoles won't accept them at all.

Look at the sales... Slim is the best seller SKU by a long shot... practise you lot think their cared about optical audio output?

Do you see these owners being mad almost that? Of course one or ii guys betwixt thousands cares just that is too low and there is the Pro to buy if y'all really cares.

BTW optical audio output is a dead standard.

You need a HDMI audio extractor. Then you will have optical out or stereo out. They go for $20-40 on amazon.

Playstation hardware losing features over fourth dimension is basically a tradition at this indicate. Happened with the PS1, PS2 and the PS3.

Mildly surprised that a USB audio adapter works, but only mildly. Ane of my setups uses the audio out from the TV.
